Care & Repair

Care Guide

Vicuña garments should be handled with care. To maintain the natural softness and structure of your QAPAQ garment, we recommend following these guidelines:

  1. Wearing
To preserve the integrity of the fibres, we suggest not wearing your garment for two consecutive days. This allows the fibres to regain their natural shape and texture.

  2. Washing
After approximately four to five wears, we recommend washing your garment either by hand or in the machine using the delicate wool program. Always wash separately or with similar colours. Use QAPAQ Fine Wool Soap or another gentle soap suitable for delicate fabrics. If hand washing, use 1 cupful (10ml) of soap for 5 litres of water. For machine washing, use 2 capfuls (20ml). Avoid any spin cycle or tumble drying.

  3. Drying
After washing, gently remove excess water by rolling your garment in a towel and pressing lightly. Lay the garment flat between two soft towels to air-dry, keeping it away from direct sunlight or heat sources. This will help preserve its shape and softness.

  4. Ironing
To remove any wrinkles, gently steam your garment by holding the iron about an inch above the fabric. This method will help maintain the garment’s natural shape without damaging the fibres.

  5. Storing
When storing your garment, fold it carefully and place it inside your handmade QAPAQ dust bag.  Avoid hanging the garment, as this can distort its shape. For added protection, add a natural moth repellent such as our QAPAQ cedar wood ball inside the bag. Keep it in a cool, dry place.

With proper care, your QAPAQ garment will continue to offer lasting luxury, comfort, and timeless style.
